Effect of Agitation on Anaerobic Co-Digestion of Swine Manure and Food Waste

چکیده

The synergism of food waste associated with swine manure can provide an increase in biogas production, besides promoting greater stability the anaerobic co-digestion process. To verify this effect, tests were performed two reactors, one agitation, and other without agitation. In both systems, gasometers used to measure production experiment lasting hydraulic retention times (HRT). On each feeding day, temperatures ambient effluent taken from reactors measured, samples collected perform analysis pH, total solids (TS), volatile (VS), fixed (FS), acidity (AV), alkalinity (TA). addition, chemical oxygen demand (COD) was determined every five days, gas composition at beginning second HRT. As important results, a decrease pH verified due weakening buffer effect medium. This low found waste, causing contents reactors. volume produced higher reactor which meant increased efficiency Finally, methane content through chromatographic analyses, indicating reduction activity microorganisms present Thus, it is concluded that agitation linked exerted positive on production.

Anaerobic Co-digestion of Dairy Manure with Potato Waste

In this study, anaerobic co-digestion of dairy manure (DM) and potato waste (PW) was evaluated to determine the best mixing ratio in terms of biogas and methane (CH4) productions. Batch lab-scale anaerobic co-digestion of DM with PW was conducted at two different temperature ranges [mesophilic (MT) (35-37 oC) and thermophilic (TT) (55-57 oC)]. The tests were conducted at five DM:PW mixing ratio...

Effect of Anaerobic Digestion on Manure Characteristics for Phosphorus Precipitation from Swine Waste

Swine production facilities today are larger in size and are concentrated in smaller geographical areas than they were two decades ago. Additionally, there is an increasing trend to base manure land application rates on crop phosphorus requirements rather than crop nitrogen requirements alone. These factors have resulted in a need to find a feasible method for removing phosphorus from swine was...

Anaerobic digestion of municipal solid waste and agricultural waste and the effect of co-digestion with dairy cow manure.

Anaerobic digestion of dairy cow manure (CM), the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW), and cotton gin waste (CGW) was investigated with a two-phase pilot-scale anaerobic digestion (AD) system. The OFMSW and CM were digested as single wastes and as combined wastes. The single waste digestion of CM resulted in 62m3 methane/ton of CM on dry weight basis. The single waste digestion of...

The effect of cefazolin on biogas production from thermophilic and mesophilic anaerobic co-digestion of dairy manure and waste milk

* Corresponding author ([email protected]) Abstract: Antibiotic residues in animal waste from concentrated animal feeding operations are of considerable concern because of the potential development of antibiotic resistant bacteria in the environment and the effect of these residues on manure treatment systems. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of cefazolin (10 mg L) dur...
